Dan Duckhorn founded Duckhorn Vineyards in 1976, and his seductive Merlots quickly became benchmarks of the style. The 2015 is a blend of 85% Merlot, 12% Cabernet Sauvignon, 2% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot and was aged for 15 months in French oak. Expect a balanced, elegant, fruity wine with touches of oak spice and graphite-inflected minerality. This will be an impressive addition to any holiday table.

Dan Duckhorn, who founded Duckhorn Vineyards in 1976, was among the first in Napa to see Merlot's potential as a premium varietal wine. This one blends in 16% Cabernet Sauvignon and splashes of Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Malbec and spent 15 months in French oak. Look for ripe, dark cherry fruit wrapped in velvety tannins, and pour with beef tenderloin.
