Tasting Notes |
---|
As with the Clemens wines, a light touch but long duration in fermentative extraction and 10-11 months in half new barrels mark the regimen for Goff's 2011 Pinot Noir, which is lithe, bright and buoyant (despite recorded 13.5% alcohol), but a bit more flattering in its polished, silken texture and a bit more complex than this year's Coleen Clemens wines tasted at the same stage (just over one year after bottling). Sage, rhubarb, grapefruit rind and even a hint of horseradish lend pungency, aromatic penetration and tartness to fresh cherry, while underlying suggestions of veal stock, bacon, and a marine saline-alkaline note serve for mouthwatering savor in a fine, invigoratingly long and interactive finish. I suspect this will be worth following through at least 2018. Score - 92. (David Schildknecht, erobertparker.com, Oct. 2013)
