Description
The Tawse Cherry Avenue vineyard is comprised of three blocks named for the children of Moray and Joanne Tawse and is planted with Chardonnay, Riesling, Pinot Noir, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc. Carly's Block was planted with Riesling in 1976 and is home to some of the Niagara Escarpment's oldest Riesling vines. The vineyard's Pinot Noir is sourced from Robyn's Block (one acre, planted in 2002 and 2005) and David's Block (two acres planted in 2005). As the vines in the latter two blocks have aged, the resulting wines have also evolved and, with each vintage, demonstrate greater complexity and depth. Factors that are attracting the attention of local and international press: David Lawrason described the 2010 vintage as being ' ... a generous, quite complex pinot noir ... with cran-sour cherry and herbs nicely etched with wood smoke and spice ... ,' while Allen Meadows of burghound.com said of the same vintage: ' ... round, supple and delicious middle weight flavors possess solid dept
