Description
Though the name may suggest that it is the senior Cuv�e, the Mac�n Cl�sico is in fact the second wine of the new joint project of the Rothschild family of Lafite fame in Bordeaux and Vega Sicilia from Ribera del Duero. This wine is the more ready to drink of the two, but like the Mac�n it will continue to develop in the bottle. The goal of this partnership is to create wines that incorporate the best of the traditional and modern styles of Rioja, favouring, perhaps, the finesse of the traditional styling that they see as being the soul of Rioja, but not denying the purity of fruit expressed by modern versions. One of the most exciting things about this young enterprise (this is only the second vintage) is that as they learn more about their vineyards, the prospect of achieving even greater selection and specificity within the vineyard itself means that both the Mac�n and the Mac�n Cl�sico have a magnificent future. Tasting Notes
The newest project for the Alvaro family, in partnership with Benjamin de Rothschild. This 2015 second wine has an alluring chocolate and cherry nose with impressively integrated spicy oak. The palate has firm tannins in the mid-palate. Very plush, detailed and attractive, long and balanced. Big plum flavor. Very fresh. Drink or hold. Score - 94.
