The Shiraz/Viognier blend originated in the Rhône valley, but the success and popularity of the Australian versions have made the blend virtually synonymous with this New World giant. Small Gully is a boutique winery established in 1999 by Darren Zimmermann, whose family has been growing top-quality grapes in these vineyards for nearly 85 years, and Robert Bader. You can expect classic dark Barossa fruit and pepper notes from the Shiraz here, accented by a lifted floral note provided by the Viognier. This will be superb with a grilled pepper steak or gourmet burger.
