Primitivo and California Zinfandel have been shown to be genetically identical. Puglia, Primitivo's native stomping grounds, is in the southeast corner of Italy's 'boot' and enjoys plentiful sunshine, a Mediterranean climate and cooling ocean breezes that mitigate the heat of the day. Primitivo from Puglia is robust and structured, with spicy fruit notes. This one offers amazing value.

Tasting Notes
Primitivo is the Italian take on the variety known in California as Zinfandel. Grapes for this wine are grown in the Conca d'Oro Valley, just 10 minutes from the Mediterranean Sea, which keeps things cool enough that the wine retains its crisp acidity and harmonious balance. Look for ripe cherry, brambly blackberry and leather tones and sip with lamb burgers or pepperoni pizza.
